Welcome to Marc's

Surrounded by an impressive array of carefully restored buildings on a delightful stretch of Main Street is where you will find Marc's. The old house remains much the same from the outside, but the interior has been opened up to create a spacious restaurant with a French Provencal country feel.

The walls are a combination of raw cretestone and rich red which contrast well with the wooden furniture and floor and provide a warm welcoming atmosphere. A unique feature is the 1920's Parisienne-style stove which will be used primarily to provide warmth on cold winter evenings, but will also be used to heat soups and casseroles during the winter months.

The restaurant leads out to a back patio area and a charming enclosed courtyard garden with wonderful mountain views.

A central fountain is surrounded by attractive blue tables and umbrellas set on chipped stones and a pergola with stone table and seating provides the ideal venue for a large family gathering or doubles up as a perfect buffet table for those who would like an outside function in the garden.

Surrounding flower beds have been planted with lavender, olive trees and herbs to create a glorious setting for a leisurely lunch.

My Lebanese born wife and I came to stay in South Africa in 1995.

The menu clearly reflects our passion for Mediterranean cuisine and as the introduction to the menu succinctly states "It is with food that the Lebanese - and most of the Mediterranean countries - express hospitality.

At Marc's we invite you to share this love of cooking, eating and hospitality with us. The Hors d 'Oeuvre, known as "mezze" forms a large part of the Mediterranean way of life."

We have carefully selected some of the best known and most popular mezze including

Kafta - meatballs made from a mix of lamb and beef mince with spices,

Grilled mixed peppers marinated in balsamic vinegar and oil, and

crisp golden Spinach and Feta pies (subject to availability)

Diners may choose a single mezze dish or a mixed platter for one or two persons. Other Mediterranean specialties on the starter menu include Gazpacho Andalous (a traditional cold tomato soup) and an excellent Goat cheese salad (if season permits)
